Volunteering With The FAM Festival
The Volunteer team makes the FAM Festival run smoothly for attendees and artists alike.
The Volunteer positions for this years festival are: Stage Manager, Sound Tech., Door
person/Cashier & Runner. The Duties of each volunteer position are as follows.
Stage Manager- Manages the venue-specific festival clock. The venue show times are
staggered. The clock is what the festival patrons will rely upon to navigate and plan their
experience. Bands have 35 minutes to play with 12 minutes to set up and 12 minutes to
tear down (no exceptions). The S.M. is to field any complaints, whether from a volunteer,
patron or vendor. Takes shifts in relief of door person and cashier. Organizes gear in the
environment as bands arrive, as well as drafting a stage plot.
Sound Technician – Helps bands with set up and tear down. Sound for the venue and
awareness of the venue-specific festival clock. Operation of sound and projectors at Film
Screenings.
Stage Manager/Sound Technician – A hybrid of the two previously mentioned jobs.
Used at smaller venues (i.e. Phog, Milk, The Coach & Horses)
Cashier/Door Person- Selling wrist bands and art and counting money. Checks wrist
bands as patrons enter. Communicate any issues to the S.M.
(Must be Bondable / References Required)
Runner – Acts as a float between venues, giving breaks and relief to other volunteers and
staff. This person should be qualified in all of the aforementioned areas.
We are looking for dedicated volunteers who see a value in Windsor’s cultural
community. Each venue will see a large turn over of people throughout the festival. It is
the job of the volunteers to support each other and the reputation of the FAM to ensure a
pleasant experience for culture lovers in Windsor as well as for the exhibiting
filmmakers, artists and musicians. There are a number of benefits to volunteering with
the FAM, these benefits increase through the amount of time put in by each volunteer.
Volunteering with the FAM can be a great learning experience, a lot of fun and a way to
meet new people in the community, as well as enjoy free FAM gear.
